Keeping in touch while in Argentina can be very a frustrating and expensive experience without an international cell phone and Argentina SIM card.
Sometimes a payphone takes coins (But how many is anybody's guess!!!), other times a proprietary calling card and still others only a credit card will do with accompanying instructions that would take a week to understand.
Argentina cellular phone rentals can significantly cut down on the frustration of calling home while abroad but the airtime rates would bankrupt all but the thickest of wallets. Airtime rates for a Argentina cell phone rental can typically start at $1.50 and may be as high as $2+/minute.
Think you got a deal on your world phone and plan on doing some international roaming? With international roaming charges the airtime rate you will pay is out of this world.
The Argentina prepaid SIM chip is a quick and easy way to convert your existing world phone into a prepaid Argentina cell phone for Argentina and as discussed is more economical then a Argentina cell phone rental. For your next assignment or vacation in Argentina, this SIM chip (combined with an unlocked GSM World cell phone) helps you stay connected while avoiding those international roaming surcharges that always accompany your 'home' SIM card while abroad. We offer a growing selection of prepaid SIM Cards for other international destinations as well as a wide variety of GSM cell phone accessories and GSM international cell phones.
Preparing Your Phone for use overseas:
While you won't be able to use your SIM card until you get to Argentina, there are a few things you can do to test your equipment and prep your phone.
* Test that your phone charger works well with your phone and make sure your phone's battery can take and hold a charge. (All Cellular Abroad phones come with variable-voltage chargers.)
* If you are supplying your own phone, make sure you have the phone menus specifically set to use English (as opposed to the "automatic" setting.) Consult your phone manual if you don't know where the language setting is.
* Snap out the SIM chip from the SIM card and insert the chip into your GSM Phone's SIM card slot with the metal portion facing down as to make contact with the contact prongs. (You'll usually find your phone's SIM card slot underneath the battery of your GSM cell phone. Consult your phone manual if unsure of the proper installation procedure.)
* Power on your phone to test it. You will not be able to make or receive calls until you arrive in Argentina.
* Note: The PIN-check feature is disabled, by default. Cellular Abroad discourages the use of a PIN number for prepaid services.
Activating Your Service:
1. Go to Argentina
2. Be sure that battery is charged
3. Turn on your phone
